Why can't I see all the files on my NAS (networked attached storage) share, linux share, or SAMBA share?

There is a bug in some NAS devices and linux computers that causes them not to work properly with Windows Vista.

This bug causes incomplete folder listings to be displayed in Windows Vista.

The problem is due to a bug in Samba, which is the software component that handles file sharing with Windows computers. The bug has already been fixed in Samba version 3.0.22 and above.

If you have a NAS device, you will need to download and install a firmware upgrade from your device manufacturer.

If you are connecting to a linux computer, you will need to upgrade that computer to the latest version of Samba.
